" V8 Rustler" (handschaltgetriebe6)

Would like to thank oppo user !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for giving me a ride to the place in his Peugeot 505.
His car with a bike on top:
And OPPO sticker:
Also there were these Renault cars that had a very weird engine layout. Engine in the front, but the transmission is in front of the engine.
If that wasn’t weird enough, the shifter rod goes all the way on the top of the engine bay to a ball joint on the transmission:
One of these is not like the others:
That Mercedes GLE Coupe is frigging HUGE, and has 21 inch wheels.
First V8 Mustang with a Manual I’ve seen outside North America:
A super clean Lexus:
One very angry Mini:
Save the Panda
Went inside the Peugeot/Citroen dealership, and to my surprise, all the cars in the showroom where Manuél Transmission.
Oh and small economy cars have a horrible seating and pedal position.

Yeah, the Opel GT is pretty cool.

Yes, Renault 4L are very common in France... Even in Japan you find some regulary. I never really thought of it as weird though, but it might because I grew up with them around :)

“Went inside the Peugeot/Citroen dealership, and to my surprise, all the cars in the showroom where Manuél Transmission.”
Are you american? In France for exemple in 2012, 86% of new cars sold were sold with manual transmission... The automatic problem is really only a North america/Japanese problem... The rest of the world buys manual cars in a huge majority.

kinja question: how did you get the big image in your post preview (the bit you see from the oppo feed)?

I’m Mexican, and in Mexico it is very popular to buy a car with an Automatic transmission. Some cars are not even offered with a stick, like BMW M and Dodge Challenger.

It’s the first time I seen them up close. I knew that some old Renaults where FWD with longitudinal engine, but I thought it was similar to Audi/Subaru layout.

Damn, I didn’t know Mexico had this problem too... :(

I did not do that, I think a mod does that.

That looks awesome! A C&C with no 458’s and Aventadors!
What camera do you use?

I despised and like them equally. My uncle had a red Renault 4 that was positively terrible ... the next car was a red 325d E30 Touring. He should have kept that one ... should be a good DD today. :)

Move to the UK, we’ll look after you better than those in the US would and we got manual transmissions coming out of our ears. Also, you might more space and a better seating position in our RHD economy cars.

Sony NEX F3 with a Canon 50mm f1.4 and the 18-55 kit lens. I was actually expecting to see some Super Cars, as every Cars & Coffee post I see in OPPO has, like you said, 458s and Aventadors.

That would be a Peugeot 208. The Citroen C4 Picasso minivan had a better and more sporty driving position than the 208.

Well, that’s what you get when you don’t put in the extra work.
They should have done it like Renault with the Clio RenaultSport and make bespoke components that work better for spirited driving. :?

Well it’s just the easy way of dealing with the problem one may have in transferring a RR platform into a FF car :)

French cars loved doing this. Renault 5, 16, and Citroen Traction, DS, etc. were all like that. Some of the older DKWs also had the engine behind the trans.

Citroën has done that in the Traction Avant (1934 on), in the ID/DS, and in the SM - that’s where Renault got the idea. The 2CV and other air cooled Citroëns had the engine in front. Before that I think most FWD cars had both engine and gearbox behind the axle, like Audi, DKW, and Cord.

It is, isn’t it. I was pretty surprised to see a Beta coupé that i would actually want to drive, but this one wasn’t just a looker from the outside, the interior was super clean and sporty too. Shame about the modern Lancia wheels though, they just somehow don’t look right on this one, even though I’m not crazy about authenticity.

And you get JDM RHD imports also. May need to adapt to driving a Manuel with my left hand.

I didn’t find it too difficult to drive a Manuél with my right hand. Some people do punch the door but I never did. I did stomp on the brake with my left foot when I first drove an auto though.

I think it just a space limitation. The tire envelope space is there, so the pedals have to be moved to the right, which is horrendous.
Regarding the seating position, must be also because of no space. If you were to lower the seat and extend your legs, there would be no space left in the rear.

Yes, and it is also very cheap to do if you go with fully manual lenses. Adapters for old lenses cost like 25 USD, and old lenses are plentiful and quite cheap.

Maybe the biggest issue would not be that, but that you drive on the wrong side of the road.

I think you are looking at it the wrong way. you might think we drive on the wrong side of the road, but we do drive on the right side of the car.
